The Virtual Space Community is a partnership led by Space Center Houston, in coordination with NASA and many partner science centers across the United States. Within the community, Space Center Houston delivers space themed interactive distance learning programming using state of the art video conferencing technology. This programming largely focuses on math and science content, which is a strategic focus for NASA. Each partner receives specific space themed curriculum to help fulfill the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) National Education Standards and their individual State Education Standards.
The Virtual Space Community website serves as an umbrella for communication to the community partners and to their audiences. This website will host space themed curriculum, links to NASA resources, feature monthly webisodes, blog posts, discussions, and several interactive student sections.
The Virtual Space Community will bring extensive learning opportunities to teachers, students, and youth organizations and create an environment of learners that will inspire the next generation of explorers.
